The COMET-Centre builds its legal base.
March 27, 2017 will go down in the annals of Pro²Future. On this day, the limited liability company Pro2Future GmbH was launched by its shareholders.
On campus of JKU (Johannes Kepler University Linz), the Founding Assembly of Pro2Future GmbH took place. Pro2Future GmbH is the recipient of public funding received from the Austrian COMET funding programme on Competence Centres for Excellent Technologies and therefore the heart of the COMET Centre Pro²Future.
Johannes Kepler University Linz, Graz University of Technology, PROFACTOR GmbH, FRONIUS International GmbH and AVL List GmbH are the shareholders. Holding 20% shares each of them, they show their strong commitment to commonly bear the Competence Centre. Together, they moreover represent a balanced shareholder structure, both in terms of covering the Provinces of Upper Austria and Styria, and regarding the composition of academia and industry as well.
The shareholders appointed Mr Alois Ferscha and Mr Heimo Theuretzbacher-Fritz as the CEOs of the founded company. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alois Ferscha, already featuring the Centre proposal as the head of the JKU Institute for Pervasive Computing, will take care of the scientific director’s tasks. Mag. Heimo Theuretzbacher-Fritz is responsible for the business administration. Jointly they meet the challenge to establish the new COMET Centre Pro²Future, to embed it into Austria as industrial ICT research centre operating the company sites Linz, Graz and Steyr, and to make it internationally visible. The excellent consortium of Pro²Future consisting of more than 45 industrial and scientific partners will support the executive directors in this effort.
