Richard Bjetak and Daniel Kraus two researchers of area 4.1 – Cognitive Products – presented their work at the 9th International Conference on the Internet of Things (IoT 2019) in Bilbao, Spain. Richard’s contribution, titled “Retrofit: Creating Awareness in Embedded Systems – A Usecase for PLCs”, outlines how data analytics can be used to establish environmental contextualization and consequently awareness in legacy automation systems. Daniel’s contribution, titled “Achieving Robust and Reliable Wireless Communications in Hostile In-Car Environments”, concerns the development of a simulation framework for the design of IoT communication in harsh communication environments. Daniel’s work convinced an international journey and received the conference’s Best Doctoral Consortium Paper award.
“Retrofit: Creating Awareness in Embedded Systems – A Usecase for PLCs” was coauthored by Richard Bjetak, Amer Kajmakovic and Konrad Diwold. “Achieving Robust and Reliable Wireless Communications in Hostile In-Car Environments” contribution was coauthored by Daniel Kraus, Konrad Diwold, Erich Leitgeb and Peter Priller. The conference proceedings are soon to be published and available via ACM.
