Elisabeth Salomon, Junior Researcher of Area 4.1 – Cognitive Products – presented the results of her work “Comparison of Channel State Information-driven and RSSI-based WiFi Distance Estimation” as a poster at this year’s International Conference on Wireless Sensor Networks (EWSN 2021).
Elisabeth’s work, which was written together with colleagues from Pro²Future and TU Graz, examines the suitability of Channel State Information for realizing WiFi (IEEE 802.11) based distance estimation and compares this with an alternative approach based on signal strength.
The results of the work underline the suitability of Channel State Information for the realization of WiFi-based localization and serve as a starting point for further research activities in this context. With her contribution, Elisabeth was able to prevail against 10 other poster contributions and won the Best Poster Award of the EWSN 2021.
