Wolfgang Roland, Senior Researcher of Area 4.2 – Cognitive Production Systems, presented the research results of the Area at three international scientific conferences: Mathmod Vienna, PPS Aachen and SYNASC Hagenberg:
27.07.2022
Mathmod 2022 | 10th Vienna International Conference on Mathematical Modelling
At Mathmod 2022 in Vienna, a hybrid modeling approach was presented for modeling the drag-flow rate of fully-intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruder kneading blocks. Symbolic regression models in dimensionless representation have been generated, which are build on a numerically driven parametric design study.

PPS Aachen International Symposium on Plastics Technology (ikv-aachen.de)
At the international conference of the polymer processing society in Aachen new conveying models of co-rotating fully-intermeshing twin-screw extruder kneading blocks were presented. Further these models were compared to existing models in literature and the improvement in accurace was shown.

SYNASC 2022 | 24th International Symposium on Symbolic and Numeric Algorithms for Scientific Computing
At the SYNASC in Hagenberg the application of symbolic regression for polymer processing problems was presented. Especially the incorporation in a hybrid modeling approach that combines symbolic regression with classical methods such as analytical and numerical methods was shown. Furthermore, the possibilities of including physically motivated process knowledge in the generation of the models was pointed out.
