Predictive Maintenance in Distributed Production Environments
On August 1 2017, the first co-operative research project between Pro2Future GmbH, the Company Partner EPCOS OHG und the Scientific Partner TU Graz could be launched.
EPCOS-TDK in Deutschlandsberg, Styria operates a very complex and highly automated production leading to the collection of a huge amount of data. Currently, there is still room for improvement in data exploitation with regard to predictive maintenance. Hence, new and innovative opportunities are investigated together with the Institute of Interactive Systems & Data Science of TU Graz. Special emphasis is put on the forecast of servicing needs. In other words, the production lines shall not only be maintained when a failure has already occurred or by fixed intervals, but by the actual need and before a failure may happen. Permanent prediction of possible failures and the forecast of needed maintenance help avoid downtimes, raise productivity and safeguard the high product quality.
